Production Notes

Developed with participants from the 2018 Iran International Festival of University Theatre in Tehran, Iran.

CITA Associate director Tatsuya Yasumoto travelled to Tehran in May of 2018 as part of  beginning work on a new project surrounding Japanese folklore. What he was interested in doing was finding a meeting, thematically, or narratively, between Persian and Japanese folklore. We believe having all artists contributing and helping to develop a shared understanding of the subject matter is important as it gives a group ownership over the work is created. Offers were chosen, and with the participants refined, and as a consequent they were not simply interpreters, they became both authors and performers.
